The US is seeking to create hazardous conditions for Tehran by imposing fresh sanctions, Iran's Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said here on Saturday.

will never stay silent in the face of US threatening measures, and will respond appropriately, he said.

Jahangiri's remarks followed US new sanctions against the Islamic republic over the latter's missile programme.

The US imposed on Friday new ballistic missile sanctions on in response to Tehran's "continued provocative actions" including a recent rocket launch.

launched on Thursday a space vehicle which used technologies "closely related to those of an intercontinental ballistic missile", representing a "threatening step by Iran", said a US statement.

Iran's Foreign Ministry, however, slammed Washington's threats and pressures pertaining to Tehran's recent successful launch of a satellite carrier, saying the launch was "Iran's inalienable right" and in compliance with its international obligations.
