DMK working president M.K. Stalin has urged the State government to set up Lokayukta without further delay, amid rising corruption allegations against ministers of the ruling AIADMK. He also warned that the DMK would move the court if the government fails to act swiftly.

In a statement, he pointed to the recent case filed by a contractor, claiming that Higher Education Minister K.P. Anbalagan demanded a bribe of around ₹13 crore for awarding a contract for the construction of buildings for polytechnics in eight districts and questioned the silence of the CM on the issue.

Mr. Stalin also referred to a slew of allegations against various ministers, the raid by income-tax officials in the run-up to the R.K. Nagar bypoll and the gutkha scam in which senior police officials are said to be involved.
