Motorcycle clue helps cops trace the men accused of murdering father-son duo at eatery

With the arrest of four men, the Delhi Police claim to have solved the murder case of a father-son duo, who were shot dead on Wednesday night at an eatery in outer Delhi’s Najafgarh.

The incident happened following an argument over the direction of an air cooler at the eatery. While one of them was arrested on Thursday, the other three were nabbed on Saturday.

The accused — Anil alias Monu (26), Karim Khan (25), Raja Bihari (25), and Amit Prajapati alias Mitha (28) — were arrested after the police traced their motorcycle. “On the basis of technical surveillance, Karim Khan was arrested first on Thursday,” said DCP (Outer) Mahendra Nath Tiwari.

On his instance, the police checked possible hideouts of the other three and with the help of manual surveillance, they were arrested. “During questioning, they said Anil alias Monu had shot at eatery owners Shyam Verma and his son Mayank Verma in a fit of rage,” said a senior police officer. The police have recovered the pistol used to commit the crime.

Involvement in more cases

The police said Monu was involved in five more cases including attempt to murder and molestation. Anil alias Monu runs a dairy with his mother and is also involved in a chit fund business. Karim, Amit and Raja are bike mechanics. “

On Wednesday night, Mayank was allegedly shot over an argument about the air cooler. The accused directed it towards them complaining of heat. Mayank asked them to restore it to the previous position for the sake of other customers. The accused then shot both the victims before fleeing.
