‘Permanent exhibition at Kalam memorial soon’

DRDO chairman makes announcement during the convocation of Sathyabama University

A permanent exhibition would be set up at the National Memorial for former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at Peikarumbu near Rameswaram, said S. Christopher, chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and secretary, Department of Defence (R&D). He was replying to the queries of mediapersons on the sidelines of the 26th convocation of Sathyabama University here on Saturday.

During the convocation, Mr. Christopher presented degrees and medals to 2,392 undergraduates, 284 postgraduates and 96 undergraduates of the Department of Dental Surgery and 58 Ph.D scholars. He urged the students to be innovative in their pursuit of success.

Chancellor of Sathyabama University, Remibai Jeppiar conferred the ‘Honoris causa’ on Mr. Christopher, V.Narayanan, associate director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), ISRO, V.R. Lalithambika, deputy director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO, and J. Ajeeth Prasath Jain, senior principal, Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, Chennai, for their valuable contribution in their respective fields.

Sathyabama University vice-president, Marie Johnson, pro-chancellor Mariazeena Johnson, and vice-chancellor K.V. Narayanan, participated.
