‘Fulfil promises made to employees and fill vacant posts’

YSR Congress Party’s Nagari MLA R.K. Roja on Saturday lashed out at the government for “harassing” employees in the name of performance.

Interacting with the media here, Ms. Roja said it was unethical for the government to corner the employees with the slogan “perform or perish.”

“Government employees have been a worried lot, especially those who have crossed 50 years. They are concerned about their families in case they are removed from service. Even the talk of reducing the duration of their service would compound their woes. If the government can decide the performance of employees, the vice versa is also applicable,” she said.

The factors of performance, duration of service, and age should be applicable to the Chief Minister as well, she added.

If the government was so concerned about the employees, it should fulfil the promises made to them along with filling the vacant 1,40,000 posts across the State, Ms Roja said.

Referring to the poll promises made by the TDP, Ms. Roja said not one of the 600 promises made was fulfilled.

By-election

Referring to the TDP campaign for the Nandyal by-election, Ms. Roja said several Ministers were misleading people. When asked about cases of drug abuse, Ms. Roja said the government should step up vigil and see that students did not fall prey to the evil. She felt that questioning of persons, including actors, should be done in a secret manner.
