Let Mudragada be silent till then, he says

Stating that inclusion of Kapus in the list of BCs would be completed in three months from now, Home Minister N. Chinarajappa on Saturday said steps would be taken to ensure that the existing communities in the list would not be affected as a result.

“Let Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham be silent for three months. The government will finalise the reservations by then as the groundwork is nearing completion,” he said while addressing the media here.

‘Will not permit yatra’

Making it clear that Mr. Padmanabham would not be allowed to undertake padayatra without obtaining prior permission from the government, the Home Minister said there was no point in staying away from certain procedures.

“We are in a democratic set-up that requires each and every citizen to follow certain procedures. The government is ready to issue the permission letter once Mr. Padmanabham applies for it,” he said.

Accusing the Kapu leader of trying to get political mileage out of the good work done by the TDP-led government to the community, Mr. Chinarajappa said that after coming to know that the government was going to give reservations to the Kapus, Mr. Padmanabham unfolded a “drama” to get into the limelight.

Police patrol continues

At Kirlampudi, the police patrolling continued on Saturday too, but people were allowed to meet Mr. Padmanabham in his residence.

Kapu leaders from different parts of the district called on him in small groups during the day, with whom the leader discussed at length about resuming the ‘padayatra’ from August 3.

Since the restrictions imposed would be in fore till August 2, he announced a fresh schedule and made it clear that he was not going to apply for permission until the police provided him the pro forma under which the Chief Minister had applied.
