CHITTOOR: The Chittoor police mooted "Sign the Oath Forms" campaign received a overwhelming response from the bike riders in Chittoor, Madanapalle, Palamaner and Puttur sub-divisions with as many as 1.5 lakh people becoming signatories to the helmet-rule, no drunk drive and over-speeding between July 6 and 28. In spite of the hectic campaign, eight casualties were reported involving two-wheelers in various places of the district during the last fortnight, prompting the police to intensify their campaign.
Chittoor SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu on Friday launched various competitions to the students of degree, engineering and medical colleges in the district as part of getting cent per cent participation of bike riders to sign the oath forms, and to take the awareness campaign to further levels, including auto, lorry and SUV drivers.
The SP sought the police personnel from DSPs to constables to undertake campaign at all educational institutions and involve the students in the competitions on the theme of road safety.
Rajasekhar Babu said that the competitions would include various formats such as cartoons, caricatures, videos, short films, audios, painting and quizzes. The participants have to send their works to chittoor.pro@gmail.com or whats-app the same to to the police department number 9440900005 between July 29 and August 7. A panel of judges would select ten winners among the participants, and they would be duly felicitated and given prizes. The SP appealed to the managements of the educational institutions to prompt their students to join the competitions in big way in public interest.
