Tax & excise jt commissioner surrenders in molestation case

Absconding & Excise Joint Commissioner Tani Jonkey, accused of molesting a minor girl, has surrendered in a hospital, police said today.

After evading arrest for a while, Jonkey got himself admitted in a hospital where he surrendered before the police yesterday, Capital Complex Superintendent of Police Dr A Koan said.


Police have been looking for the absconding officer after a case was registered at the Women Police Station here under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In a complaint on July 5, the victim's mother alleged that when her daughter went for tutorial on June 2 with her friends, Jonkey molested her.

Jonkey, however, denied the charges against him.
