The incidents of desecration of religious places continued in as one more holy cross was found vandalised at Chimbel village near here, police said.

"We received the information around 11 am that a holy cross was lying broken on the ground. We immediately rushed to the spot," Ashish Shirodkar, police inspector from Old police station told PTI.

He, however, said that it wasyet to be ascertained what time the incident took place.

"We are still investigating the case. The suspects are yet to be rounded up," he said.

This is the second incident reported in the state after arrest of Francis Pereira two weeks back for allegedly desecrating religious structures, including holy crosses in the state.

The 50-year-old Pereira had confessed to being involved in desecration of over 150 religious structures.

On Tuesday, police had found that 12 gravestones were vandalised at Marcaim village in North Goa, 35 kms away from here.

Chief minister recently told the state legislative assembly that the culprit in Marcaim incident would be arrested in four days.
