: Eighty sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from the house of a cotton merchant at Innabur near here today, police said.
The jewels were stolen when the merchant and his wife had gone to Andhra Pradesh to distribute invitations for his son's wedding.
The burglarly came to light this afternoon when the neighbours found the door at the rear of the house broken open and informed the police.
Sekar's relatives told the police that 80 sovereigns gold jewellery and Rs two lakh cash were missing.
