It was a memorable experience for Nalanda School students who met City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang and other police officers at the commissionerate here on Wednesday.
The students walked into the Commissioner’s office and asked the police officers about policing and their duties. Mr. Sawang came out of his chambers, spent some time with the children, and enquired about their welfare.
The commissioner saluted the students, when they said that they wanted to become police officers and serve society. Mr. Sawang clarified the doubts raised by the students on the occasion.
“We launched the ‘Bala Mitra’ programme aimed at the welfare of children.
The police officers will visit schools and NGO homes, interact with the students and inspire them to achieve their goals under the programme,” Mr. Sawang explained.
‘Emulate good officers’
Police would act tough against those who behave cruelly with children, violate child rights and resort to child abuse, the Police Commissioner said and thanked the teachers who are moulding the children into good citizens and helping the nation in all-round development.
Joint Commissioner of Police B.V. Ramana Kumar asked the students to emulate the good officers and serve the country.
