Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced a high-level probe into the alleged lack of police action against “disturbance” caused by a posh Juhu eatery.
Congress leader Narayan Rane raised the issue in the Upper House, alleging that despite repeated complaints to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, no action had been taken against the lounge, Estella, on Juhu Tara Road.
Mr. Fadnavis said an official of the rank of inspector will investigate the delay in action against the eatery. He informed the Assembly that the eatery has some fire safety issues. “Appropriate action will soon be taken,” the CM said.
Speaking in the Lower House, Mr. Rane’s son Nitesh, an MLA, said the restaurant owners have “bought” the municipal and police officers.
Earlier, the lounge owners had registered an FIR against Nitesh, alleging extortion and saying that the MLA had forcefully acquired a 50% share in their venture.
