Over a dozen speakers comprising office-bearers of the Backward Classes Welfare Association, political and student leaders on Wednesday said a protracted struggle is the answer to show the way out for corporate educational institutions to be reined in and achieve fee regulation.
Addressing the gathering, association president and MLA R. Krishnaiah, rued that the State Government was a mute spectator while what he termed the ‘corporate loot’ was continuing unabated over the years. It was the State’s responsibility to ensure that all poorer sections access affordable and quality education. It was almost a year and a half, but the Tirupati Rao Committee was yet to submit its report on fee regulation to the Government, he said, pressing the demand for a Fee Regulatory Commission to be put in place. “A a people’s movement and a pro-active, willing Government is required,” he said.
The association’s Telangana State President Erra Satyanarayana said that the need of the hour was a united agitation.
