A Dutch national Mike Kamminga was arrested on Wednesday as part of the ongoing investigation by Telangana Prohibition and Excise (P&E) officials into the sensational drug racket while interrogation of film actress Surdeep Kaur alias Charmee Kaur was completed.
Thirty-three-year-old Kamminga hailing from the Netherlands is believed to be an important link in Hyderabadis ordering narcotic drugs online and getting them delivered at home through courier agency. The foreigner with passport number NMC18DH31 had flown into the country four times.
During his trips to India, he mostly resided in Hyderabad. P&E sleuths had been looking for clues on how persons from Hyderabad were securing drugs using Internet and Dark Web. Investigators had been struggling to gather more details about the persons linked with online sale of narcotic drugs after they stumbled upon four school students who admitted to have received drugs in this fashion.
Important catch
“He is an important catch for us. He was picked up late last night and being sent to the court,” P&E Director Akun Sabharwal said at a press conference held at a short notice.
While the battery of media persons awaiting at the P&E grill-gate hoped the top officer would throw more light on the case, he simply read out basic details of the foreigner. Declining to divulge more details, he left the place along with Excise Commissioner Chandravadan finishing the press meet in less than two minutes.
High drama
High drama preceded the appearance of film actress Charmee before the Special Investigation Team officials at the P&E office in Nampally. Accompanied by five bouncers, the actress drove in a Multi Purpose Vehicle around 9.45 a.m.
As media persons vied with one another to click her pictures and record visuals by surrounding her, she had difficulty in walking up to the main gate located barely 10 feet away. A team of three woman officers B.L. Renuka, V. Jaya Lakshmi and Ch. Sravani and a male officer K. Pavan Kumar questioned her till 5 p.m. Ms. Charmee refused to give samples of blood, hair and nails. T hey were not collected in compliance with the High Court directions following her writ petition that such samples should not be collected forcibly. After Ms. Charmee Kaur on Wednesday, it is the turn of Mumaith Khan to be questioned on Thursday in the case.
