A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was killed in an accident involving two two-wheelers near Haturu in Kodagu district on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Charimanda Thimmaiah, 45, who was a resident of Patel Nagar in Gonikoppal. Mr. Thimmaiah was returning from Virajpet after attending to some personal work when the accident took place. The police said the impact of the collision was such that Mr. Thimmaiah sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. He is survived by wife and two children. Mr. Thimmaiah was posted in Chhattisgarh and was with the BSF 19th battalion. He recently took leave to come home to perform the last rites of his father who passed away on July 11. He was supposed to return to his work place on Thursday night. The body was shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem. Kodagu Rural police have registered a case.
