: Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan today denied reports that lands had been allotted for exploring petrochemicals in Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts.
Replying to a specific question from reporters here, Radhakrishnan said no land in these districts had been allocated to anybody or firm for exploring petrochemicals.
He referred to Chief Minister K Palaniswami's announcement in this regard that the government would not take any steps which affected the interests of farmers.
Water is being released from Amaravathi dam from today following a request from farmers in the area, which would also benefit areas in Tirupur and Karur district, he said.
He also said the Tenancy Act Bill is expected to be passed soon.
