Led by its Inspector General Maj Gen Sanjay Gupta, Rifles personnel laid wreath and saluted the martyrs at the memorial of Late Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse at Nerhe Pheza in Nagaland's Kohima district.

Gupta described Kenguruse as "a brave son of Nagaland" who has become a source of motivation and inspiration to all ranks of the armed forces.

Kenguruse had volunteered to undertake a daring commando mission on a cliff faced with well fortified enemy machine gun post, Gupta said, adding that he not only lived up to the traditions of the but also to the state of and its warrior clans.
