N. Sambasiva Rao, DGP, on Tuesday said Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham did not have permission to take out padayatra from Kirlampudi to Amaravati and appealed to the youth not to participate in it.
To a question, Mr. Rao said Mr. Padmanabham would be arrested if he came out of his house and tried to start his padayatra.
“As the route plan of the padayatra is proposed to cover many districts, permission for the programme has to be applied to the DGP. But no one has sought it,” he said at a press conference here. The police would take stern action against those who violated the prohibitory orders, the DGP warned.
Some organisations gave a call to lay siege to the police stations across the State on Wednesday for no reason, he said.
“We know how to protect our stations and properties. If any person tries to disrupt law and order and creates violence, the action will be very serious. No person involved in violence will be spared,” the DGP said adding that police were not against any person or party but only lawlessness.
“The police are booking bind over cases as a precautionary measure. We appeal to youth not to indulge in unlawful activities. We requested the owners of wine and bar shops in East Godavari to cooperate and close down their establishments on Wednesday,” he said.
