School girl dies of dengue in Coimbatore

A 16-year-old girl died of dengue in a private hospital here, police said today.

Hemavarthini, a plus one student from Puliyakulam was admitted to a private hospital here two days ago with complaints of fever and tested positive for dengue, they said.


However, she died last night without responding to treatment, they added.

N Karthick of singanallur constituency here had recently blamed the state for "failure" to control dengue.

After his visit to the hospital here, the alleged that the was not giving exact number of people affected by the disease.

A woman and her 2-day-old had died of dengue in the district on July 9.

According to hospital sources, 20 dengue cases and 143 viral fever cases have been reported in the hospital.
