PM to arrive in Madurai today

Governor Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami arrived in the city on Wednesday evening.

State ministers Sellur K Raju, R.B. Udayakumar, K.T.Rajendra Balaji, Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao, Corporation Commissioner Aneesh Shekar, Commissioner of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal and other senior officials received them at the airport. The Governor and CM arrived here in two different flights and are staying at the Circuit House.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to arrive here on Thursday from New Delhi by a special aircraft at 10.05 a.m.

On arrival, the PM would take a helicopter to Rameswaram, where he would participate in the second death anniversary of former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

According to officials, the PM would return to Madurai airport around 1.30 p.m. by helicopter and after a brief halt, he would leave for New Delhi by the special aircraft at 2.15 p.m.

Police have made elaborate bandobust arrangements in the city.
