Over 900 CPI workers were arrested at 12 places in the district today for staging agitations seeking to solve farmers' issues, including waiver of bank loans and withdrawal of all taxes on agricultural produce.
The agitators also demanded withdrawal of GST on Small and Medium Industries, Powerloom sector and fireworks units and setting up of Lok Ayuktha in Tamil Nadu.
Other demands include exemption to State from NEET and free education up to higher education level, police said.
Those arrested included District party secretary, V S Sundaram, former MLA, M Arumugam and some 300 women, they said.
