The president of the Desiya Thennindia Nadigal Inaiappu Vivasayigal Sangam P. Ayyakannu, who is leading the second round of farmers’ agitation at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to press for the waiver of crop loans taken from nationalised banks among other demands, has alleged that anonymous callers were threatening him with dire consequences if he did not withdraw the stir in the capital.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Ayyakannu said that he had been receiving scores of anonymous calls over the past few days, mostly from persons in Tamil Nadu asking him to withdraw the agitation in New Delhi and instead protest against the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu here.
