Govt to invite Manmohan to teach at Bengaluru School of Economics

The state government is planning to invite former prime minister and renowned economist Dr Manmohan Singh to conduct a class for the first batch of students of Bengaluru Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) to mark the start of the academic year.

According to sources, Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy has sought an appointment with Dr Singh in this regard.

BASE is proposed to be developed as an institution of excellence of global standards and is coming up on a 50-acre plot on Bangalore University campus. The intake for the first batch of BSc (Honours) Economics course is 50 and entrance examination for admission will be held on July 30. The academic year is scheduled to start on August 23.
