Shiv Sena leader Sunil Shitap, the man responsible for the building crash at Ghatkopar, has been formally arrested by the Mumbai police. The death toll in the incident has rised to 17 with several injured

Shitap has been arrested by the Parksite police station and would be produced before a Magistrate court.

Deputy commissioner of police Sachin Patil said that a detailed probe in underway. "We will proceed as per law," he said, adding that according to priiminary information Shitap, who owned the ground floor had made alterations.

So far 17 persons have been killed when the Sai Darshan building at the Damodar Park area of LBS Marg at Ghatkopar West caved in.
