Housing schemes: drive to identify non-eligible beneficiaries

The zilla panchayat has initiated a drive to identify non-eligible beneficiaries of housing schemes in Dakshina Kannada.
A press release from ZP chief executive officer (CEO) Dr M R Ravi said that all the non-eligible beneficiaries of the scheme should visit the respective gram panchayats and furnish details along with returning the grant received from the government for the construction of houses.
The issue has been considered seriously by the authorities and criminal case will be filed against those who had misused the housing scheme, the CEO said in the release. As per the government guidelines, a beneficiary can avail the facility of housing scheme only once. All the beneficiaries who were selected in 2005-06 should visit the respective gram panchayat and furnish their Aadhaar details within seven days.
Further, he said that the beneficiaries should initiate the construction of house process within 10 days.
Under housing scheme, 1,025 beneficiaries in Bantwal, 1,431 in Belthangady, 1,041 in Mangaluru, 612 in Puttur and 351 in Sullia have started the work on the house since 2015-16 till date. All those beneficiaries who have not started the work on the construction of houses should start the work within 10 days. The house sanctioned to those who failed to start the construction work will be suspended, he said.
