TRS MP Kavitha starts online campaign to promote helmet use

MP of K Kavitha has started an online campaign to promote use of helmet among two-wheel riders.

As part of her brother K T Rama Rao's birthday, who is also Telangana's IT Minister, Kavitha kick-started the campaign

In the campaign launched just ahead of the festival of Raksha Bandhan, the MP from Nizamabad has appealed to all sisters in the country to tie rakhi and gift a helmet to their brothers.

"On my brother's birthday, initiating a campaign for the safety of the brothers across India," tweeted Kavitha, who is daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

"Almost everyday about 400 two wheeler riders die in road accidents across the country because they don't wear helmets," she said.

"Anguished by the number of two-wheeler accidents. I would like to make a serious effort to save some lives.JoinMe," she tweeted.

Kavitha said, "It is the need of hour to safeguard our brothers and rewrite the tradition by gifting them a helmet this rakhi. As the number of deaths in two-wheeler accidents are much higher than the terrorist attacks."

Rama Rao retweeted Kavitha's tweet and appreciated the cause.

Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal supported the campaign.
