Charge sheet against Prajapati for allegedly lodging fake cases against IPS officer, wife

The police today filed a charge sheet against former UP cabinet minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in a here in connection with a case lodged on the complaint of Nutan Thakur, wife of IPS officer Amitabh Thankur.

Nutan Thakur had alleged that Prajapati had managed to get false criminal cases lodged against her and her husband following and based on her complaint, the a case was registered at the Gomti nagar police station.


After the police filed the charge sheet today, Chief judicial magistrate Sandhya Srivastava fixed July 27 as the date for taking cognisance.

The rejected an application moved on behalf of Prajapati, under section 167 of CrPC, demanding his release from judicial custody on the ground that charge sheet had not been filed within 90 days of his judicial custody in the matter.
