The East Godavari police today arrested a naxal carrying a reward of Rs five lakh on his head from Pichukula Padu junction in Etapaka Mandal bordering Telangana.
Police claimed that Madivi Masa alias Mahesh (21) was involved in an attack on CRPF personnel in Burkapal area of Chhattisgarh in which over 24 personnel were killed in April this year.
The Chhattisgarh government had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head.
Vital documents and maoist literature too were recovered from his possession, said police.
Madivi hails from Chepurugudem village of Narayanapur district of Chhattisgarh, but was leading an under ground life in Enkannagudem village of Charla Mandal near Bhadrachalam, said police.
East Godavari district superintendent of police Vishal Gunni said Mahesh was trained in handling all sorts of weapons and was a key figure in maoist movement in Hiddumal special zone.
He was the battalion commander of the maoist special zone committee, said the official.
