Mentha oil futures gain 1.27 pc as demand picks up

Mentha prices rose by 1.27 per cent to Rs 998.50 per kg in futures trading today amid pick-up in domestic demand at spot market and restricted supplies from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for delivery in August rose by Rs 12.50, or 1.27 per cent, to Rs 998.50 per kg in a business turnover of 356 lots.


Also, the for in July delivery traded higher by Rs 10.30, or 1.06 per cent, to Rs 986 per kg in 377 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by traders, tracking rising demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi led to the rise in mentha prices in futures trade.
