Actor in another encroachment row

more-in

On a day his bail plea was rejected by the Kerala High Court, beleaguered actor Dileep found himself in fresh trouble after a local body president in the district shot off a petition against him alleging encroachment on puramboke land.

In his petition, Karumalloor grama panchayat president G.D. Shiju alleged that the actor had encroached on 30 cents, adjacent to a two-acre plot alongside the Periyar at Kunnukara panchayat under Karumalloor village limits registered in his name and that of his then wife Manju Warrier in 2005.

A copy of the petition had been mailed to the Chief Minister and the Revenue, PWD, and Water Resources Ministers and the Vigilance Director.

Mr. Shiju alleged that a protection wall and a bathing ghat had been constructed on the plot during the term of the previous UDF government in connection with the construction of a regulator-cum-bridge at Purapillikkavu. He alleged a conspiracy in shifting the regulator-cum-bridge 350 metres from the original spot to benefit the actor and the real estate mafia, which had allegedly bought land in the area.

“The puramboke land encroached on by Dileep should be reclaimed as excess land and utilised for LIFE Mission, the government’s housing project for the poor,” he said in the petition. However, Kunnukara panchayat president Francis Tharayil said there was no puramboke land in the area.

Meanwhile, Karumalloor village officials said they had sent a report to the Paravur tahsildar seeking a survey of the controversial plot. “We cannot confirm whether puramboke land has been encroached upon till the survey is,” sources said.

However, Paravur tahsildar K.M. Abdul Nasser said he was yet to get any report on the said plot.
