A 17-year-old boy was detained for allegedly cheating and copying in the class 10 school examination, police said today.

The accused was caught copying yesterday while he was writing his Algebra paper 1. One of his friend allegedly helped him by sending him photos of the answers via Whatsapp, said Police Inspector VV Chavan of Naupada police station.

The accused's friend was also booked. Students were not permitted to carry their cell phones in the examination hall, said Chavan.

A case under section 66(D) of the Act was registered, the officer said, adding a probe was on.
