The police chief behaving like a ruling party member, says the former MP

Former Member of Parliament Chinta Mohan on Saturday took objection to Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao warning people against taking part in the proposed yatra by Mudragadda Padmanabham demanding reservation for the Kapus.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, the former MP said the top bureaucrat was behaving like a ruling party member and it was undemocratic to stifle any act of dissent. “Freedom of expression is a provision provided by the Constitution and curbing it will not augur well for a free democracy. I support Mudragadda’s yatra.”

He warned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of severe backlash if the yatra was disturbed. “The Chief Minister should take the responsibility in case any untoward incident happens. The State government had posted over 5,000 policemen at Kirlampudi which in itself suggested the intention of the government.”

Criticising YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s utterances on the Congress party, he said the party, more particularly Sonia Gandhi, had a special place for Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s family.

On the NDA rule, Mr. Mohan said the country was gradually slipping into an economic emergency and the GST had delivered a death blow to the poor.
