Osmania University yet to announce the results of backlog papers

The Osmania University’s delayed announcement of results may rob several BCA students of a precious academic year both in PG programmes as well as the employment opportunities.

The final semester results are out, but the university has not yet announced the results of the backlog papers of these students in third year first semester or second semester of the second year. Some of them are foreign students who wish to clear the slate before they leave the country for higher education in other countries or head back home for employment.

“We have been to the Osmania University seeking information on the results, but there is no help. Officials are not only refusing to give information, but are rude to us. We are bona fide students of the university and the behaviour of some officials has hurt us,” a group of students from the Bhavan’s Vivekananda College said. Generally, the university officials ensure that the backlog results are released along with the results of the final year students so that their admission in PG courses or employment goes smoothly. Even if the results are delayed, the gap between them is short so as to not hurt the students in future. “This is the first time the results have been delayed for so long and it’s hurting our chances,” a student said, adding that about 15 students from his college were affected with the delay apart from hundreds of others from other private colleges.

Favourite course

BCA is a favourite course of several foreign students from the African countries. The course has lost its sheen over the years with the spread of engineering colleges and the easy availability of seats in computer science and IT stream. However, it is picking up popularity among Indian students too, a senior teacher from the OU said.
