The Vice Chancellors meeting held at the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) on Saturday to discuss the detention system in degree colleges concluded after considering the proposals made by the participants. They decided to meet again for a common system to be adopted.

The TSCHE Chairman, Prof. Papi Reddy said that students will be promoted automatically from first semester to second semester, third to fourth and fifth to sixth.

However, if they have to be promoted to third semester from second they need to clear minimum of 50% subjects. Similar norms will be applicable for promotion from fourth semester to fifth semester. If they have a backlog of even one paper after sixth semester they would be considered fail and will lose an year.

Dharna

Earlier, contract Assistant Professors staged a dharna at the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) office demanding hike in remuneration on par with assistant professors and regularisation of services.

Later, they gave a memorandum to the TSCHE Chaiman, T. Papi Reddy and wanted him to given assurances on their demand. Prof. Papi Reddy said that he would discuss the issue on pay hike with the Deputy Chief Minister, Kadiyam Srihari after he comes back from the USA. However, he made it clear that job security and regularisation were not in his purview.
