ISL Draft 2017: Anas Edathodika, Eugeneson Lyngdoh become the most expensive buys

Indian Super League (ISL) Player Draft 2017: ISL teams went after their prized possessions ahead of the 2017-18 season. The Draft was conducted in Mumbai as Anas Edathodika and Eugeneson Lyngdoh became the costliest players to be bought.

Nearly 200 players will be drafted early on Sunday morning before the Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 season begins. Each team will need a minimum of 15 players in their squad and maximum 18 Indian players including two U21 players. 22 players have already been retained by the franchises which means a maximum of 158 players will be selected. Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Anas Edathodika have the costliest base price – Rs 1.1 crore. Besides the exist eight teams, two new entrants Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC will compete in the ISL.

ISL Player Draft Live Updates: 205 players will be in the pool to be drafted by the teams to strengthen their squads for the 2017-18 ISL season. 

0254 PM IST: Every team is now made as the draft concludes! All teams have their squads in place now with Anas Edathodika and Eugeneson Lyngdoh becoming the highest bought players at Rs 1.1 crores.

0246 PM IST: The last round of the players draft is underway. PAWAN KUMAR becomes the first player to be picked in the round by FC Pune. BRUNO COLACO goes to FC Goa while NEUFC pick their second developmental player SUSHIL. Bengaluru also pick their final player CALVIN ABHISHEK. SIMRANJEET SINGH becomes Delhi Dynamos final pick. BIPIN SINGH goes to ATK while SIDDHARTH SINGH is Jamshedpur’s final pick. AJITH SIVAN joins Blasters.

0244 PM IST: Round 14 starts with Bengaluru picking JOYNER LOURENCO as ARNAB DAS SHARMA goes to DD. KUNZANG BHUTIA moves to ATK. ASHIM BISWAS heads to Jamshedpur FC while KARAN SAWHNEY is a Blasters player. FRANCISCO FERNANDES goes to Chennaiyin FC, GURTEJ SNGH is with Pune as developmental player MOHAMMAD YASIR will now be playing for FC Goa. Meanwhile, GURPREET SINGH becomes a highlander. KUNAL SAWANT concludes Round 14 by going to Mumbai City FC.

0229 PM IST: Round 13 starts with AMEY RANAWADE going to FC GOA, followed by MEHRAJ UDDIN WADDOO going to Mumbai City FC. LALREMPUIA FANAI heads to NEUFC, ANTHONY DSOUZA to Goa, AJAY SINGH moves to Pune, SANJAY BALMUCHI heads to Chennaiyin FC, LOKEN MEITEI becomes a Blasters and RONALD SINGH will don Atletico colours. MUNMUN LUGUN will play for DD and COLLIN ABRANCHES is the final pick of Round 13 by Bengaluru FC.

SUMEET PASSI leadS the line for Jamshedpur while AUGUSTIN FERNANDES to ATK, ROWILSON RODRIGUES will roar with the Lions! BOITHANG HAOKIP will now bleed blue! PRANJAL BHUMID heads to Mumbai. ABDUL HAKKU is the NEUFC player.

0219 PM IST: SAJID DHOT is taken by Delhi Dynamos while defender ASHUTOSH MEHTA goes to ATK. FARUKH CHOUDHARY has been picked by Jamshedpur FC, PRITAM KUMAR SINGH will turn out for Kerala Blasters. MOHAMMAD RAFI to now play for Kerala Blasters. Round 11 ends with BALJIT SAHNI at Pune FC.

0210 PM IST: Lunch break is over and Round 11 is underway with FC Goa bagging JOVEL MARTINS, North East taking MALEMNGANBA MEITEI, BISWAJIT SAHA going to the city of dreams – Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC taking ABHRA MONDA.

1246 PM IST: Round 9 begins with Chennaiyin FC selecting their goalkeeper PAWAN KUMAR.  NAVEEN KUMAR goes to FC Goa, RAVI KUMAR to NEUFC and SANJU PRADHAN is headed to Mumbai City FC. ZOHMINGLIANA RALTE will be playing for Bengaluru FC, DAVID NGAIHTE to play for the capital Delhi.

1241 PM IST: Chennaiyin FC go for FULGANCO CARDOZA, Pune for HARPREET SINGH, PRATESH SHIRODKAR goes to FC Goa. REAGAN SINGH will be playing for NEUFC while AIBORLANG KHONGJEE becomes the last pick of Round 8 as he goes to Mumbai FC.

1239 PM IST: Round 8 begins. LENNY RODRIGUES to join Benglauru FC midfield while ROMEO FERNANDES goes to Delhi Dynamos. Developmental player HITESH SHARMA taken under the ATK banner. SHOUVIK GHOSH becomes part of the Jamshedpur squad while JACKICHAND SINGH will play for Kerala Blasters.

1233 PM IST: SUBHASHISH ROY CHOWDHURY will play for the Blasters while MAWHMINGTHANGA will be seen in Jamshedpur colours. ANWAR ALI goes to ATK, VINIT RAI to DD, ALWYN GEORGE goes to Bengaluru FC as Round 7 ends.

1221 PM IST: BRANDON FERNANDES has been picked by FC Goa while ROBERT LALTHLAMUANA makes his way to NEUFC. That brings an end to Round 6.

1213 PM IST: Round 6 is under way! And it starts with Pune City claiming NIM DORJEE TAMANG, DHANACHANDRA SINGH moving to Chennaiyin FC and ARATA IZUMI joins Kerala Blasters.

1204 PM IST: North East United FC use their two instant draft chances available for the round. MILAN SINGH goes to the Blasters as BIKRAMJIT SINGH will don Chennai colours. JEWEL RAJA has been taken by Pune and that closes the Round 5.

1159 AM IST: We are back at Round 5! FC Goa goes first and they select KONSHAM CHINGLENSANA SINGH. LALRINDIKA RALTE goes to NEUFC.  RAJU GAIKWAD will play for his hometown team Mumbai City FC. HARMANJOT KHABRA to Goa FC while SEITYASEN SINGH will now play for Delhi Dynamos. KEEGAN PEREIRA returns to ATK. ROBIN GURANG will play for the new team Jamshedpur FC.

1134 AM IST: ATK director Teddy Sheringham said that Eugenson was always going to be their first pick. “He dictates midfield so took him when we got the chance.”

 Ashley Westwood said,  “It’s always going to be a challenge to a build a new team. I know the country well so I’ll help Teddy in picking the right players but Teddy will have the final say.”

1039 AM IST: KEAN LEWIS goes to Pune FC after blocking an instant trade from ATK in the third round. NARAYAN DAS, HALI CHARAN NARZARY are back home to NEUFC.

1020 AM IST: Any player who has not been selected today has the chance to be chosen by any of the clubs in open market later on. After every four rounds will be a break which will be an opportunity for the clubs to reflect, discuss and talk to media. The teams have two minutes to decide on a player. If clubs are not able to decide on a player in 2 minute, they have an option of forfeiting.

Let’s have a quick look at the rules of the draft: Jamshedpur FC will get the first pick in both first and second rounds of the player draft as they are new entrants to the league. Meanwhile Delhi Dynamos will go second in the opening round. FC Pune City chose to retain only one senior player from last season and join in the second round. The remaining six clubs, barring Chennaiyin FC will be part of the draft starting from the third round. Chennaiyin — who retained two senior players besides  Jerry Lalrinzuala, a capped Indian player in the U21 category — will be the only club to join the player draft from fourth round.
