Musician Illayaraja releases audio

Edmund Thomas Clint — the young artist who left behind a colossal body of work before his death at the age of seven — will now live on in the hearts of viewers through the film Clint, which is ready for release.

At the audio release here on Friday, Illayaraja, who scored music for the film, and released the audio, said it was up to the people and Clint’s parents to decide on his music in the film. The musician praised Master Alok for essaying Clint’s role in a most natural manner.

The film’s director, Harikumar, said it was difficult to make a film that reduced the gap between the reel and the real. The reaction of Clint’s parents to the film would be crucial, he said. Noted poet Prabha Varma, who penned the lyrics for the film, said writers and film-makers might have the freedom to create their own versions of characters from epics and history, but a life that was lived short and in the recent past gave little freedom to the director, and that perhaps was the biggest challenge in the making of the film. Clint had died a month before his seventh birthday on April 15, 1983.

Film producer Gokulam Gopalan, actors Unni Mukundan, Master Alok, Vinay Forrt and Baby Akshara participated. Clint’s parents were also present.
