City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood on Saturday said that he supported the cause of Kannada language and it is the right of every Kannadiga to safeguard the language, but the protest should be peaceful and within the framework of law.
Reacting to the recent Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) members protest at Metro stations, where Hindi signage were defaced, Mr. Sood said it's right of the organisations concerned to protest, but it should not violate the law. If there's is any violations legal action would be initiated against them, he warned.
“I support Kannada language. Karnataka is my karmabhoomi though not my janmabhoomi. I fully support the cause, but the protest should be within legal framework,” he said.
City police have booked As many as 36 cases against KRV activists and arrested several persons under section 153 ipc and various other section for defacing hjndi sign boards at metro Stations across the city.
