Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday observed that with fast- changing trends in the commission of crime and social disturbances, the police have to be ever vigilant and utilise all available technologies to ensure a society bereft of crime.
“The future belongs to technology. Those who remain technologically updated will give the best results,” he said.
The Chief Minister was launching the AP Police-designed ‘Locked Houses Monitoring System App’, after inaugurating the Command Control Room and Model Police Station in Kuppam.
Launching the App for State-wide implementation, Mr. Naidu had a word of appreciation for Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao for encouraging the young talent in the department by creating more and more number of Apps for public good. “Apart from creating new Apps for public utility, the police should continuously strive hard to encourage public participation to make technology timely and useful,” he said.
Pat for CPOs
On the occasion, Mr. Naidu had an interactive session with the Community Police Officers (CPOs), a voluntary service wing with about 5,000 personnel.
“The CPO system would go a long way in forging great success in policing. It will also lead to a friendly atmosphere between the police and people,” he said, adding the government would consider the services of home guards during selection of the regular force and the CPOs during selection of home guards. Chittoor SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu made a PowerPoint presentation on various Apps and software being applied for public safety and crime management.
He informed the Chief minister that the LHMS App was a big hit in Anantapur district, with zero crime rate in the areas of housebreaks.
He said the CPO system would be further strengthened and their services utilised for ushering in complete public safety and zero crime rate.
Mr. Sambasiva Rao said the Apps developed by the young talent in the department started giving excellent results. “We have plans to increase the paraphernalia of digital surveillance covering all police stations, and provide optimum support to make the department completely tech savvy,” he added.
Home Minister N. Chinarajappa and senior police officials were present.
