Afraid of the BJP's rising popularity, many people are creating "false propaganda" against the BJP in Meghalaya, party national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said today.
"We only see that people are creating false propaganda against the BJP because they fear that BJP's politics of development will be more preferred by the people of Meghalaya rather than the politics of corruption or politics with no development," Kohli said.
He said, "We (BJP) are winning elections after elections. We are doing well. Those who believe in development are not going to be misled by the false and lies being spread in the social media and otherwise ...."
Speaking on the secular mindset of the party, Kohli said he would be meeting next month the Christians here to clear the air on any misconceptions they may otherwise have against the party.
"When I come to the state in early August I will personally meet members of the Christian community. We believe in Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas. We do not distinguish between a Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist Parsi Jew and any community," he said.
The BJP leader, who had earlier today spent three hours in a 20-km traffic jam from Umiam Lake as he entered the city, also lambasted the ruling Congress for failing to provide connectivity.
"One needs three hours from Barapani to hit Shillong city in a car. What will development come to Meghalaya? Highways are built across in states which are ruled by the BJP or not ruled by the Congress," he said acknowledging that people here are still suffering from connectivity.
