Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Friday that he was ready to sacrifice his life in his pursuit to make the State number one in the country.
“The State will be developed above caste, religious, and regional considerations. My objective is ensure the development of the poorest of the poor. My aim is to achieve equal progress of all regions,” he said.
Addressing a public meeting after launching various facilities at the Agriculture Market Yard in Kuppam, he said as part of creating opportunities to usher in unprecedented development, the government had forgone a lot of revenue by introducing the free sand policy.
Mr. Naidu said that his immediate priorities were to put an end to belt shops and sand smuggling.
The Chief Minister spoke at length on the ‘Dial 1100’ scheme, which was applauded by the people, mostly women.
“Do not think that ‘Dial 1100’ would be a routine one. I am not like others. For any problem you face, be it liquor or belt shops, atrocities against women, corruption in government offices, intimidation, and attacks by anti-social elements, just dial this number and see what will happen,” he said.
Complaints galore
Earlier, the ‘Prajavani’ programme chaired by Mr. Naidu to look into the grievances of the people of Kuppam constituency witnessed a deluge of complaints. The Chief Minister received several bunches of applications seeking houses, ration cards, and grievances pertaining to agriculture.
Perturbed over the pouring of public grievances, Mr. Naidu asked his personal assistant in Kuppam constituency P. Manohar to concentrate on public issues.
“Had these grievances been addressed promptly, there would not have been such a rush today,” he observed, and constituted a ‘Smart Kuppam Committee’ to address the issues.
Mr. Naidu said that the key members to whom the development of Kuppam had been entrusted did not take the task seriously. He directed Collector P.S. Pradyumna to regularly monitor the developmental activities in Kuppam.
NTR baby kits
Before concluding his two-day visit, Mr. Naidu inaugurated a 150-bed area hospital building and interacted with the in-patients. He also distributed ‘NTR baby kits’ at the gynaecology ward.
Inaugurating the new building for the ICDS, the Chief Minister blessed pregnant women at the ‘samuhika seemantham’ event.
He also inaugurated the Town Bank building and laid stone for industrial units near Kuppam.
