Unidentified men allegedly robbed three female employees of the Aavin cash collection centre here, of cash to the tune of Rs 7.5 lakh at knife point, police said today.
The incident occurred last night when the staff were engaged in collecting cash from the Aavin agents of Tallakulam, P and T colony, Goripalayam and other areas, they said.
Suddenly, masked men armed with knives barged into the collection centre, located close to the office of the City Police Commissioner and robbed the women.
They threatened to kill them if they refused to part with the money, they added.
The gang escaped with the booty within seconds on their bikes, police said.
Fingerprint experts have been pressed into service, they said.
