Subramanian Swamy says the main appeals against the Allahabad High Court order are pending for the last seven years in the apex court.

The Supreme Court on Friday said it would take a decision to list for early hearing a batch of petitions challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Ram temple-Babri Masjid land dispute case.

“We will take a decision on it,” a Bench, comprising Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, said when BJP leader Subramanian Swamy mentioned the matter for urgent listing and hearing.

Dr. Swamy said the main appeals against the High Court order were pending for the last seven years in the apex court and they required urgent hearing.

A separate petition was filed by him seeking the enforcement of his right to worship without much hassle at the site, he said adding that he was allowed by the apex court to intervene in the matter and was seeking the expeditious disposal of the cases.

In 2010, the Lucknow Bench of High Court ruled a three-way division of the 2.77 acres at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

The three-judge bench, by a 2:1 majority, had said the land be partitioned equally among three parties, the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and ‘Ram Lalla’.
