Chief Minister to hold discussion with land oustees at his farmhouse today

With 80% of land oustees under Kondapochamma reservoir deciding to sell their land to the government, the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has now turned his focus on Mallannasagar to end the controversy once and for all.

According to sources, the Chief Minister would hold discussions with the land oustees of Vemulaghat and the neighbouring villages on Saturday at his farmhouse. On Friday, a few police personnel visited Vemulaghat and met the villagers inviting them to visit the farmhouse and meet the Chief Minister.

The villagers have been on relay fast for the past 412 days.

“The land oustees are free to express their fears and put forth their demands before the Chief Minister, who will take a final call on the issue of compensation and rehabilitation. As the government had already promised to construct double bedroom houses for the oustees, the only issue that needs to be sorted is the compensation to be paid,” said a source

“So far, our villagers were paid a compensation of ₹6 lakh per acre under GO 123 and no other benefits were offered. We will be more than happy if the government is ready to offer the same price and benefits that was extended to the oustees under Kondapochamma,” said an activist from Vemulaghat.

By the time the last reports came in, the villagers were discussing what issues to be raised with the Chief Minister if they visited him at his farmhouse.
