Farmer dies after inhaling toxic gas in farm well

A 44-year-old farmer died after inhaling a poisonous gas in a well while repairing a motor pump in Takhlakala village in the district today, the police said.

The incident occurred soon after Khuman Singh climbed down into the 25-feet-deep well in his agricultural field, said Ari police station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dalchand Gyarasiya.


Singh and his associates were irrigating his field when the motor pump broke down, the ASI said.

Later, his body was pulled out of the well by villagers.

A case of accidental death was registered and further investigation is on.
