A criminal wanted for in was arrested here after a gun battle with security forces, police said on Friday.

Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said the criminal, Deepak Sharma, and his accomplice were on a motorcycle but did not halt during checking at Kamla Nagar on Thursday night.

When policemen chased them, the criminals opened fire, resulting in a gunfight. While the accomplice escaped, Sharma was overpowered.
