: FM operator Radio City today announced the Radio City Cine Awards, aimed at recognising the talent and felicitate the regional film fraternity in the country.
To begin with, Radio City would launch Radio City Cine Award in Tamil, in which listeners can cast votes for their favourite actors and actresses.
The selection process will determine nominees and winners who will be announced through public voting process, it said.
"Radio City Cine Awards is one such initiative that helps strengthen our city connect between listeners and favourite celebrity," Radio City, CEO, Abraham Thomas said.
The company also plans to extend the awards to other language films.
"Post Radio City Cine Awards 2017 Tamil, we will soon launch this initiative for our Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri", Thomas said.
The voting for the public would open July 31 for Tamil actors and actresses across all channels, including social networking sites.
The awards would be presented across various categories including favourite actor, actress, Director, lyricist, music composer, singer male, female, comedian, cinematographer and favourite movie.
The nomination for voting would begin from July 24 and listeners can choose favourite actors till August 10. The award ceremony would be held in Chennai on August 12.
Radio City is part of Music Broadcast Limited, a subsidiary of Jagran Prakashan Ltd.
Music Broadcast Ltd currently has 39 stations across the country and plans to expand in Kanpur Ajmer, Kota, Bikaner, Udaipur, Patiala, Patna, Jamshedpur, Nasik, Kolhapur and Madurai, the statement added.
