Sozzled driver rams car into metro pillar

A high-spirited drive post party turned deadly for young occupants of a car. Two people were killed and four injured in the wee hours of Thursday after a car rammed into a Metro pillar in Chaitanyapuri. The Swift car was driven by Sai Kumar Gowd who escaped unhurt while his two friends, 24-year-old Chaitanya and 25-year-old Srinath died due to injuries sustained in the mishap. Another person seated in the rear seat sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to Saroornagar police, the car, with six people inside, was moving at a high speed and hit a divider after the driver lost control. The car then rammed into a pillar. A labourer, Ganesh, who was sleeping under the under-construction Metro bridge was injured after being hit by the vehicle. The youngsters had attended a birthday party in LB Nagar after which they proceeded towards Dilsukhnagar. Based on the preliminary enquiries and observation, the Saroornagar police officials informed that the accident was a result of drunk driving. The driver, who consumed alcohol at the party with his friends, lost control of the vehicle at a high speed, a police official added.
