Chairing a review meeting at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here on Friday, Minister for Mines and Geology and district-in-charge Vinay Kulkarni directed KIMS Director Dattatreya Bant to mandatorily display the names of doctors on duty for the information of the public.

The minister asked Dr. Bant to ensure that the doctors drawing salaries over ₹1 lakh should be made to discharge their duties properly at the hospital. He also asked the director to adapt new technology to monitor the attendance of doctors.

Mr. Kulkarni directed the authorities concerned to also ensure availability of required drugs at KIMS for the benefit of poor patients. “There should be a proper system to issue certificates to physically challenged persons at KIMS and steps should be taken to issue them every week,” he said.

After being informed about the various programmes and activities at KIMS, the minister asked the director to provide information on files pending before the state government so that he could get them cleared at the earliest.

Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad S.B. Bommanahalli asked the doctors to not forget their moral responsibilities as healthcare professionals.
