In a shocking incident, a history sheeter was brutally hacked to death by a group of men of a rival gang in Dhule town of north Maharashtra.

While the incident took place on Tuesday, the gory video of the incident surfaced on social media on Thursday and went viral.

The victim, Rafiquddin Shaikh alias Guddya, in his mid-thirties, is a history sheeter and has over 30 offenses against him including murders, attempt to murders, extortion, and rape. He was currently out on bail.

The attack took place on Tuesday morning when after his regular morning walking he was drinking tea at a local stall. A group of 10 persons surrounded him and shot him with a country-made revolver. Later they struck with lathis and swords several times.

According to initial information available, the victim was struck more than two dozen times and they kept on striking him even after he was motionless in a pool of blood. The video also shows that one of the attackers dragged him onto the road.

"We have registered a case and investigations are in progress," Additional Superintendent of Police Vivek Pansare said, adding that six teams have been formed to nab the suspects.

Of the 10 attackers, police have established the identities of seven who are absconding and a manhunt has been launched to trace them. They belong to a family that is considered equally notorious in Dhule with their involvement in several nefarious crimes and an old rivalry with Shaikh.
