[India], July 20 (ANI): Union Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday expressed confidence in National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate Ram Nath Kovind's victory and appreciated outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee for the work carried out during his tenure.

"We are sure about this, from the very beginning, that Ram Nath Kovind will win the election. We will welcome him as the new President of India," Paswan told ANI.

He even appreciated outgoing President Mukherjee for his incredible work and the way he balanced the two different governments during his tenure.

Meanwhile, Kovind is leading with 60,683 votes, while Opposition nominee Meira Kumar has till now secured 22,941 votes.

The result of the Presidential polls will be declared later in the evening today.

The next President of India will be sworn-in by the Chief Justice of India, J. S. Khehar, in the Central Hall of the Parliament.

The President Pranab Mukheerjee will demit office on July 25. (ANI)
